Jim Anderson Legacy Scholarship Application

The Jim Anderson Legacy Scholarship Award is dedicated in honor of a longtime supporter of the arts in DeSoto County, and specifically Kudzu Playhouse. The award recognizes a student who understands the importance of strengthening the arts programs in our community and/or schools and has actively demonstrated a commitment to supporting and enriching these programs.

Eligibility: Graduating high school seniors, current and rising college freshmen and sophomores (less than 50 semester hours at time of application).

Application DEADLINE: April 1, 2019

Criteria for Selection:

  1. Primary criterion is involvement in Kudzu/Kidzu Playhouse productions, fundraising, and
    promotion.
  2. Narratives are primarily assessed based on content, although grammar, spelling and format are
    considered.

Volunteer History

LIST EACH KUDZU/KIDZU PRODUCTION with which you have participated as a performer (vocals, acting, dance captain, orchestra, etc.), technical (lighting, sound, set design and construction, special effects, etc), crew (backstage, dresser, helper on set build, front of house management), artist (director/assistant, choreography, costume, hair/makeup, prop master, scenic design, front of house design) or other, if not listed.
Example:
Aladdin Jr. - October 2007, Performer "Aladdin", main stage
Bye Bye Birdie - July 2010, Crew - assisted with check in at auditions, workshop
Attach a short narrative (no more than 750 words) that covers:
A. The importance strengthening the arts programs in our community and/or schools, AND
B. Gives specific examples of how you have demonstrated your commitment to supporting and enriching the arts in your community and/or school.
May include other achievements or activities to be considered (on a secondary basis) e.g. non-Kudzu theatre/performance experience, academic achievement, or other leadership or community service
From a current faculty member or other authority figure who has knowledgtge of your work ethic, integrity, and ability to collaborate. Cannot be from an immediate family member.
