Kudzu Playhouse offers several college scholarships, to be used for tuition expenses in any degree program. Students may apply for any of the awards but may only receive one. Repeat recipients are not permitted. Recipients must be enrolled and attend an accredited institution in the academic year after their selection (verification needed, as scholarship funds are paid directly to the schools).
Eligibility: Graduating high school seniors, current and rising college freshmen and sophomores (less than 50 semester hours at the time of application).
Applicants must:
- Be a legal U.S. resident
- Be younger than 21 years old
- Maintain a minimum 2.8 GPA
- Be eligible to attend a two- or four-year college or university with a full-time course of study
Wesley W. Williamson Memorial Scholarship
Dedicated in memory of a beloved friend, actor, director, teacher, and passionate supporter of the performing arts and Kudzu Playhouse. The award recognizes a student who understands the importance of providing a safe, welcoming, and encouraging environment where individuals can explore their artistic interests, and who has actively demonstrated a commitment to enriching and participating in programs that provide them.
2024 Winner: Isabella Fleer
Isabella Fleer is the winner of the Wesley Williamson Scholarship Award, in partnership with our friends at the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi. Isabella will be attending The Author Conservatory where she will pursue her passion of writing.
Jim Anderson Legacy Scholarship
Dedicated in honor of a longtime supporter of the arts in DeSoto County, and specifically Kudzu Playhouse. The award recognizes a student who understands the importance of strengthening the arts programs in our community and/or schools and has actively demonstrated a commitment to supporting and enriching these programs.
2024 Winner: Sarah Floate
Sarah Floate is the winner of the Jim Anderson Legacy Award! Sarah is a rising sophomore at Ole Miss where she is working on her BSN of Nursing.
Kudzu Playhouse Heritage Scholarship
Recognizes a student whose participation in the arts has affected significant personal growth in areas such as performance skills, technical skills, public speaking, self-confidence/esteem, or an appreciation of literature and the performing arts.
2024 Winner: Hailey Brown
Hailey Brown is the winner of the Kudzu Heritage Award. She will be attending Ole Miss this fall pursuing a BA in biology and a minor in theatre.
